  What is Musical Theatre Dublin?

Musical Theatre Dublin is a theatre programme in Dublin which debuted in the summer of 2018.   We create musical theatre experiences both professionally and educationally. Currently, we offer winter/spring and summer intensive courses for teens and adults with an emphasis on performance in Broadway and London-style musicals. Each session culminates in a fully rehearsed musical.  Summer courses take place at Trinity College Dublin, with performances at the Sean O'Casey Theatre.  The new winter /spring course rehearses at Sandymount Community Centre as well as the Sean O'Casey Community Centre, with performances at the Sean O'Casey Theatre.

What does the summer course teach?

Students learn all aspects of how a musical show is produced.  Teens learn music and voice, choreography, and acting techniques, as well as the nuts and bolts of creating a show.  Everyone who auditions becomes part of the cast.  It is an intensive daily program that culminates in a performance of a musical after three weeks of rehearsals.  In addition to learning all aspects of putting on a show, teens learn confidence, group process, teamwork, independence and interdependance on fellow cast members. Our summer program teaches truly collaborative theater-making.  There is an emphasis on small group instruction and one-on-one coaching.  In addition, there are field trips to  local theatres,  and guest speakers from the industry throughout the course.
